News Update for 6/9/23

It’s official – there will not be a Super Sebring this year. The world Endurance Championship series has released their schedule for the 2024 racing season and Sebring is not on it. Instead, they will host round one in Quatar.
There’s no indication as to what races will support next year’s Mobil One 12 Hours of Sebring, but it is expected, among others, The Alan Jay 120 will return as one of the events leading up to America’s Premier Sports Car Endurance Race.

Did you miss The Liquid Moly Pro Watercross National Tour last month when they kicked off their 2023 season in Sebring on Lake Jackson? Don’t worry – CBS Sports captured the highlights of the jet ski racing event.
You can watch it in the air conditioned comfort of your own home beginning at 11:30 tomorrow morning.

You may hear some booms out by the bombing range today. Crews at the range are scheduled to detonate old ordinances, as part of their summer EOD cleanup. Residents may hear several loud discharges during the morning hours.

Residents who want to save money on disaster preparedness supplies have one more day to do so. The sales tax holiday for hurricane supplies will end tonight.
That includes no sales tax on small amounts of pet food & supplies, household goods, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, tarps, and portable generators among other things.
If you missed this one, don’t worry, there will be a similar tax holiday in August.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd has become one of the most recent visitors to the border wall in Arizona. Judd made the trek to Cochise County along with Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, and Sheriff Wayne Ivey of Brevard County.
Judd caled the situation “a crisis” that ranges to communities across the country.
Following his tour, Judd said the cartels are in charge at the border, facilitating deadly fentanyl and methamphetamine coming into the U.S., and killing people by the thousands.
He also noted the victims involved in human trafficking.
