Avon Park city council members will set their truth in milage rates when they meet in regular session this evening. That will show residents in the City of Charm the actual amount of property taxes they are paying compared to last year’s levy.
In other action, the council will look at their lease with the Classic Caladium operation at the city’s airport and will hear their audit report from consultants Clifton, Larsen Allen.
Tonight, will mark the city’s first try at a consent agenda – in an effort to speed the sessions.
It appears that progress is slow but steady at Harder Hall. In a prepared statement, developer Robert Blackmon says he plans to be on site this week as his team works through engineering and architectural work.
Blackmon said they have taken steps to seal the roof – which will stop deterioration on the historic Sebring structure. The plan is to move forward methodically with the restoration to make certain it is done correctly.
A weekend blaze in Lake Wales reportedly destroyed a Timberline Road home. According to reports, a youngster woke up to find the house in flames and notified other family members – who escaped without serious injury.
The family pet – a cat – reportedly perished in the incident.
According to reports, the house appears to be a total loss. Cause remains under invesitgation.

Lake Wales police raided a local pizza joint in the Crown Jewel of the Ridge, when it was discovered that drugs may have been being dealt there.
According to reports, Detectives from the Lake Wales Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit launched an undercover operation. After a number of deliveries, Pizanno Pizza Manager Leon Griffith was arrested, as was assistant manager Hailee Sullivan.
The deliveries included cocaine and prescription drugs.
