FDOT officials said they would put together a draft proposal for study.
A couple of Polk County men are in custody after an incident near Sebring. Highlands County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an orange grove off Payne Road, after a concerned citizen called about suspicious activity during the early morning hours.
Their investigation led them to a Ford F-150, containing 26-year-old Romerio Walker II and 22-year-old Eldred Kellum. In the back of the truck was a Yamaha 200 outboard motor.
A subsequent investigation led deputies to a boat in the grove, that had no motor. The owner of the craft told lawmen the boat had been stolen, and that motor actually had been part of the rig.
The two were charged with numerous counts and taken to the Highlands County jail.
