The Avon Park Fire Department has hit the century mark. They will be celebrating their 100th birthday tomorrow from 4-6pm. The Avon Park Fire Deparment’s Centennial Celebration will include activities for citizens of all agees including games, goodies, food, and an historical display. There even will be some retired firefighters in attendance. Current firefighters also will answer questions as well as displaying and demonstrating equipment.
The event will be at the Avon Park Fire Station on South Delaney Avenue.
A new report by Construction Coverage shows that when it comes to home improvement, the Sebring area trails behind the national average. The survey reveals that there were 5.1 home improvement loans per each 1,000 residents here. The average amount for remodeling? About $55,000.
Nationally, homeowners took out an average of 8.8 home improvement loans per 1,000 residents at a median amount of $75,000.
Pollsters say the numbers come from the US Census Bureau and Zillow.
The Hardee County Sheriff’s Office has announced that they terminated Deputy Nicholas Zotto.
The action came after a series of videos came to their attention depicting concerning behavior from Deputy Zotto while off duty. They apparently involved the treatment of animals in his care as owner of Pawsome Sitters, in Manatee County.
The nature of the videos was not revealed.
The 29-year-old Zotto had served with the Hardee County Sheriff’s office since April 2022. Officials say the action was immediate.
The Hardee Chamber of Commerce now is taking nominations for the Grand Marshall for this year’s Christmas Parade. Chamber officials say they are looking for someone who has made, or is making a significant contribution to the community.
Nominations will close on Monday Novemer 6th and the Hardee Christmas Parade will be December 2nd in Wauchula
