The bridge by Jaxon’s on Lake June was damaged over the weekend, when the structure was hit by a vehicle. According to reports, the driver may have been on the phone when her auto hit the span.

It’s been a long, hard road for Avon Park city council members in their efforts to turn the operation of their municipal airport over to Florida Airport Management. Tonight, Avon Park City Manager Mark Schrader will give the council a report on the results of a meeting he had recently in Atlanta with officials of the Federal Aviation Administration about a grant to underwrite the process.
In other action, the council will continue holiday planning for the city in approving additional events during the Chrismas Parade and setting some new activities in the annual Independence Day celebrations in the City of Charm.
