There’s a lotta water in Lake Letta. In fact, there’s so much, Highlands County commissioners have closed the boat ramp and dock there, until water levels recede.
Residents in the area have been complaining about the situation for several weeks, saying the rains from Hurricane Ian have continued to swell the lake, sending problems downstream – all the way to Istokpoga.
Officials of the Southwest Florida Water Management District say this is not an unusual problem, and is not the worst one they’re studying.
Police in Lake Wales continue to investigate another shooting incident at the Garden Apartments. When officers were called to the complex on South 4th street, they found two men that had been injured by gunshot wounds.
They also found bullet holes in nearby parked cars and at least one apartment. The two victims were taken to the hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.
